Turns out the extension talks with Yu Darvish has finally become reality. Darvish will stick as the Padres' ace for at least the next few seasons and will most likely end his career as a San Diego Padre once the contract wraps up.

Darvish, 36, arguably considered the Padres' ace is staying to dominate with his 10-plus pitch mix for six more years. An extension may have not been surprising to say the least for Darvish and San Diego however, the years and price may be to Friar Faithful.
A six year deal worth $108 million will take Darvish to 42 years old once the contract finishes up. Friar Faithful, we should not be so shocked with the total years on this contract extension being six. Looking at the Padres and how they were so aggressive on certain players including the newest shortstop Xander Bogaerts; who will be a Padre until 41 years young.
The Padres offered the 30-year-old Aaron Judge 14 years, Trea Turner was also offered 11 years for the same age. San Diego is clearly looking at the contention window now and not worrying about a player's abilities once they are in the later-half of their contracts.
For Darvish, it is his third six-year deal with a Major League club. This time, it looks like Darvish can enjoy the contract peacefully without being trade bait. Through his first two years in San Diego, Darvish has started 30 games each season and improved tremendously his second season this past 2022.
Now, Darvish will be a Padre through 2028 and stick with a pitching nucleus in Joe Musgrove and Nick Martinez as well for the next few seasons.
